• LearnZillion: An excellent Common Core resource, especially for teacher-directed lessons. 

• Xtra Math: Excellent site for assisting students in learning basic facts.

• Khan Academy: A source for beginning to advanced level mathematics practice that students can use independently.

• Bed Time Math: A grade level daily math problem that involves deep thinking.

• Fan School: A place where students can safely blog and/or comment on classroom activities.

• Procon: A site that provides topics for argument along with both sides of the issues. (Appropriate for middle school)

• Shmoop: A site that provides literary analysis in student friendly language.

• Newsela: Current events that provide a variable lexicon level for the same article, as well as Common Core aligned quizzes.

• Story Starters (Scholastic): Provides assistance to students in brainstorming a story starter.

• No Red Ink: A site designed to help students improve their grammar through interactive practice.  Great for reinforcing classroom instruction.

• Read, Write, Think: A variety of outstanding ELA activities.

• Tiki The Penguin: Student friendly on current controversial topics in science.

• Kid Wings: Provides information about dissecting owl pellets along with a great simulation.

• Weather Wiz Kids: Tons of meteorological lessons by grade level.

• ABC Ya: Provides a variety of interactive activities by grade level across many curricular areas.

• Typing Club: Keyboarding tutorials and practice that will help students achieve the BUSD standards for keyboarding

• Metropolitan Museum of Art: A source for a variety of art work that can be used across the curriculum.

• Smithsonian Institute: A vast array of resources for educators.

• Common Sense Media: Great resources for Internet safety that will be used to meet the minimum standards set by BUSD.

• Make Beliefs: A comic strip generator that allows students to make their own comic strips.  Can be used across the curriculum to allow students to express their understanding in a fun and creative way.

• EdPuzzle: Take existing videos and insert quizzes along the way.  The video will pause and open a window for the student to answer the question pertaining to the content of the video.

• Reading Like a Historian: Stanford produced history lessons for middle school students. 

• Gilder Lehrman: Phenomenal resource for lessons, primary documents, and much, much more.

• World Atlas: A great site for maps and timelines of important dates

• National Geographic: A host of information, articles, and maps, as well as lessons and other teacher resources.

• History for Kids: A free online history network for kids.

• Young Archaeology Club: Some interesting archaeology information from a student's perspective as well interactive games.
